Congratulations to Big Red Robotics for advancing to the New Jersey State Championships!
Big Red Robotics, Lawrenceville’s robotics team, competed against 11 other teams on February 9 at the New Jersey Upper South League Tournament. The Upper South League Tournament is the final opportunity for teams competing in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Tech Challenge to qualify for the N.J. State Championship.
Big Red Robotics became the top-seeded team at the Upper South League Tournament after going undefeated in all of their qualifying matches. After finishing with an overall 6-2 record, Lawrenceville won the Think Award, given to the team that best reflects the journey the team took as they experienced the engineering design process during the build season.
Big Red Robotics also won the second place Inspire Award, given to teams that are a strong ambassador for FIRST programs and share that their experiences, enthusiasm, and knowledge with other teams, sponsors, and their community. Through receiving these awards, Big Red has advanced to the N.J. State Championship, which will be held on March 15 at Columbia High School, in Maplewood, N.J. Nine teams from the State Finals will advance to the World Championships in Detroit on April 29-May 2
